Shoo Social Media Planner

Looking for an easy way to strategise your social media marketing? Look no further!   If you’re like 98% of the world then you’ll be hoping and praying that 2017 will be YOUR year. The year that makes you. The year your small business grows into a monopoly. The year that Ilkley Town FC win the cup. THE YEAR. At best, we’re all just hoping that it surpasses the miserably prolonged length of time that those who dare to utter it’s name call “2016”.   So it’s January. By now you’ve probably already broken your ‘dry January’ and you’re looking glumly at the direct debit you’ve set up for the gym, yet you haven’t actually managed to go yet. If you’re the owner of a business you’ve probably drawn up your entire year of marketing strategies in order to make your sales boom - right? No? Does 2017 already look irritatingly similar to all...

Tales from Behind The Counter

A new community project has been developed by local photographer Alan Carmichael of Capricorn Photography, ‘Tales from behind the counter’ is a project developed to support the local independent shops and businesses of Ilkley.   “This great project has been designed to engage the local residential community of Ilkley and give something back, what better way of doing this than putting together a visual and digital story-board, showcasing the exceptional local independent businesses of Ilkley,” Alan Carmichael, Carpricorn Photography.   The storyboard will tell the tales of the owner behind the counter. Telling the story of why and how they got into business. This is a voluntary project put together by Alan Carmichael and Rachel Hatfield of Shoo Social Media. “Not only will we create an exhibition of the local independent shop but we will also promote the storyboard across social media as well to reach those that cannot get to Ilkley,” Rachel Hatfield, Shoo...

Reporting and numbers

I was recently asked to guest blog for Debbie Whitaker at Not Just Numbers http://www.notjustnumbersltd.co.uk/and I was given the challenge to write about social media with an accountancy twist! So I have decided to publish and share the blog here. The word social is crucial here – since when did we have a conversation with a friend and want a statistical analysis on that conversation? In today’s society we are presented with facts and figures, return on investment, cost per hour, how much, how many… Yet when talking to other entrepreneurs they will always emphasise the value that they place on relationships. Wasn’t Facebook originally set-up by Mark Zuckerburg to talk to girls?...
